On the first day of the orientation the new trainees of the PDCP (2024-25) were introduced to the IIS (deemed to be University). It was accompanied by the university prayer. The next session for the day was with the Chancellor of the university. In the session he motivated and wished the students for their upcoming journey in the university. A motivational and informative session by Dr. Shiv Gautam (Senior Psychiatrist) was conducted to motivate the new trainees for the hospital training.
This was followed by an interaction with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.N.Mathur. The topic for the same was importance of clinical psychology. Sir interacted with new students and shared his thought about the dire requirement of the health professionals in the field. This was accompanied by the session on library resources. Dr. Sonal Jain the senior librarian introduced the students with the resources which are provided by the university in library. Also, she imparted the information regarding the e-resources access. After this a small tea break was given to them.
In the second half Dr. Radhika Sharma enlightened the students regarding the code of conduct of the university. She awared them about the culture, rules and regulations followed in the university diligently. The students then were informed about the time-table and departmental activities. This was followed by the information regarding the examination scheme. They were informed about the roles and responsibilities of clinical psychology. Also, the information regarding their course and curriculum was provided to them. The challenges faced by the students due to the hospital training were discussed. Students were explained the various ways they can cope with the transition. After this the students were asked to complete their admission formalities.
On the second day of orientation, the session on departmental website and faculty profile was conducted. The session was conducted by Ms. Anuja Chaturvedi. The session includes the information regarding faculties and the department website of Department of Clinical Psychology. After this the director of the school of behavioural science Dr. Himangini Rathore Hooja interacted with the students. She talked about the current mental health condition in India and the need of awareness regarding the same. After which Ms. Nidhi Goyal took them for the campus visit. This was followed by a lunch break.
This was followed by the mentor- mentee session conducted by Dr. Ila Joshi, Dean of Behavioural Science School. Wherein she imparted information to students regarding the mentor-mentee culture in the university. This was then followed by an ice- breaking session was conducted for them. Wherein the students was provided with an opportunity to interact with each other. A small activity was also conducted for the same. Like they were divided in the group of 2 and were asked to introduce each other. The session was quite interesting as it helped the students to interact with their batch mates.
Another activity was conducted by Dr. Monica Sharma. Wherein she asked students to explore their strengths and weaknesses as a trainee. The activity was quite enlightening for the students. In the next session they were informed about the syllabus, academic activities, activity calendar, credit system, etc by Dr. Monica Sharma. Students also got the opportunity to interact with their alumni. They had an ice breaking session wherein the alumni answered their queries and doubts. They also gave them suggestions to work hard and how to manage their classes and work.s
At the conclusion of the session, the students were informed about the examination and submissions. Q&A round was held in which the participants were given an opportunity to put forward questions to state their curiosity. The overall session was insightful and the students got particulars about the functionaries of the discipline and hospital. After this the students were asked to complete their admission formalities.
