The Rehabilitation Council of India works on the continuous enrichment of new developments and learning among the budding and working professionals. A Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) program was conducted online for accomplishing the same objective on 09-07-2025 by the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), focusing on the theme *“Schemes and Policies for Persons with Disabilities.”* The program aimed to enhance the knowledge and professional competence of participants working in the disability sector. Four dedicated sessions were conducted in the programme. The sessions provided a comprehensive overview of various national policies, legal frameworks, schemes and welfare initiatives designed to safeguard the rights and promote the empowerment of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Resource persons elaborated on key provisions of government programmes, including educational support, skill-development initiatives, social security benefits, livelihood schemes, and accessibility measures. Emphasis was placed on understanding the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, government-sponsored financial assistance, and inclusive development schemes that facilitate equal participation of PwDs in society. The facts regarding the biases and issues experienced by the individual and the family members of persons with disabilities were also brought into the light. The online platform ensured wide participation, enabling professionals from diverse backgrounds to engage in discussions, clarify doubts, and gain updated insights into policy implementation. Overall, the CRE program proved to be highly informative and beneficial, strengthening the participants’ capacity to effectively support and advocate for persons with disabilities.
