The Department of Clinical Psychology , IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur, organised a Guest Lecture on Disability Certification on May 28th, 2024 in the Seminar Room for the trainees of Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PDCP) (2023-2024) RCI approved course. The speaker for the guest lecture was Ms Poonam Garg who is a Clinical Psychologist. The lecture aimed to shed light on the critical aspects and procedures involved in disability certification, emphasizing its importance in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Ms Garg started off her session by introduction to disability certification which highlights the importance and need for formal certification for individuals with disabilities. Meaning of disability and it’s constructs according to the Indian legal system. She explained in detail the Clinical Psychologist's role in assessing and certifying disabilities. The significance of accurate diagnosis and documentation in the certification process. Discussion was done of different types of psychological tests used in the certification process. Explanation of how these tests help in making informed decisions regarding disability certification. Overview of the process and criteria involved in obtaining a disability certificate. In her enlightening session, the speaker talked about the Physical and Psychosocial issues which gets impacted due to disability in individuals. Common challenges like frauds faced during the certification process. Practical solutions and best practices to overcome these challenges.

She shared her extensive experience and practical knowledge, enriching the session with real-world insights. Examples were used to illustrate the impact of disability certification on individuals' lives. The lecture provided trainees with a comprehensive understanding of disability certification, preparing them for future roles in clinical psychology.
