The Department of Clinical Psychology , IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur, organised a Guest Lecture on Sex Therapy on May 29th , 2024 in the Seminar Room for the trainees of Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PDCP) (2023-2024) RCI approved course. The speaker for the guest lecture was Ms Mahi Khandelwal who is a Clinical Psychologist.

Ms Khandelwal started off her session by highlighting the importance of sexual health among men and women. Her lecture helped gain a deeper understanding on sexual disorders in males and females. Clarity was provided on diagnostic terms and things to look out for as a practicing clinical psychologist. She emphasized the importance of psychosexual education in normalizing experiences such as performance anxiety and other sociocultural factors related to sexual experiences.

She made the audience awared about the treatment and diagnosis of the same as well. In this, she informed how the treatment is a holistic approach which involves a team of clinical psychologists, sexologist, andrologist & urologist etc. She also talked about some of the most common therapies used to treat sexual dysfunction such as Sex education, Systematic desensitization, breathing exercises and Kegel exercises.

By the end of the session, the speaker clarified all the major doubts and myths regarding sexual health which is seen as a big taboo in our country still today. Participants raised several considerable questions which she answered thoroughly. It was a very interesting session wherein the audience got such a delightful opportunity to hear Ms Mahi keep her views on Sex Therapy. Such enriching affairs are ought to be pondered upon and raised more frequently.
